Steppy is designed to be private by default. Your step and health data stay on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, what leaves your phone and what doesn't.
Steppy reads your step count from Apple Health (HealthKit) to move and grow your virtual pet. This data is processed only on your device and is stored locally. We never transmit, upload, sell, or share your health or step data. It is never sent to us or any third party.
If you use the photo-moment feature, Steppy may access your location to tag where a moment happened. This is used only on your device and does not leave your phone.
To understand how Steppy is used and make it better, we collect anonymous, aggregate product-interaction data through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. This includes:
This data is not linked to your identity. We do not collect your name, email, Apple ID, advertising identifier (IDFA), or any device-level ID. There is no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and we do not use this data for advertising.
If you choose to send feedback from within the app, the text you write is submitted together with your app version, iOS version, device model, and your pet's stage & day — so we can understand and act on it. Sending feedback is entirely optional.
The only third-party service that receives any data is TelemetryDeck, which processes the anonymous analytics described above on our behalf under its own privacy-focused terms. We do not use ad networks or data brokers.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes.
Because the analytics we collect are anonymous, we generally cannot identify which data belongs to a specific person. If you have any questions about your data or wish to make a request under the GDPR or similar laws, contact us at steppy-mail@proton.me and we'll help where we can.
Steppy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
